US President Donald Trump on Tuesday criticised several nations that have recently recognised Palestinian statehood, calling the move a “reward" for Hamas’ atrocities.
Speaking at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Trump said he had been actively involved in efforts to secure a ceasefire in Gaza.
“The negotiating parties have to get it done," he said, urging a unified message from the international community: “release the hostages immediately."
Trump condemned countries recognising Palestine in recent days, suggesting that such recognition incentivises “Hamas’ atrocities" rather than promoting peace.
