ATLANTA — CNN's full coverage of this weekend's memorial service for Charlie Kirk was nominated for an Emmy after they referred to the emotional, patriotic service as "mostly hateful."

A news chyron reading "Mourners gather for mostly hateful memorial" appeared at the bottom of the screen throughout Sunday as anchors described Charlie Kirk's rhetoric as hateful, grotesque, and "really mean" while simultaneously calling every American in attendance and viewing it remotely a literal Nazi.

"After a day of messages centered around faith and forgiveness, it's striking how eerily similar the whole thing was to a Nazi rally," CNN anchor Dana Bash said while admitting she hadn't seen any of the coverage. "I would even go further and say it was 'all-the-way hateful."
