Two St. Thomas-area residents are facing multiple charges – including public incitement of hatred – after a swastika was mowed into a front lawn, Ontario Provincial Police say.

At around 7:45 a.m. on Sept. 12, police say officers from the OPP’s Elgin detachment were dispatched to a home on Centennial Avenue in Central Elgin – a mostly rural community that borders St. Thomas and has a population of about 14,000 – to investigate a neighbour dispute.

As a result of an investigation, police say two people face charges of criminal harassment, public incitement of hatred and two counts of mischief: Timothy Vansickle, 37, and Julia Majkutewicz, 40.
