A cosy Piccadilly Street staple is getting a fresh twist under new ownership, introducing a tapas-style menu and extended evening hours.

James Smith and Kirsten Osterback in May took over The Tea Lounge at 268 Piccadilly St., just east of Richmond Street, and have been gradually putting their own stamp on the intimate space, which has been operating in the neighbourhood since 2012.

The couple discovered the business by chance when Smith spotted a listing online.

“When we came down here, we had no idea that it was here,” Smith said. “We walked up and we fell in love with it. It felt very comfortable right away.”
