If you bought cans of the prebiotic soda brand Poppi over the past few years, you could be entitled to a payout as part of a $8.9 million class action settlement that claims the brand made misleading health claims.

The lawsuit, filed in 2024 in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, states that the brand, which describes itself as healthier soda made with prebiotics, low sugar and apple cider vinegar, "marketed and improperly labeled as "gut healthy."

The claims led shoppers to pay more for the drinks, the lawsuit said, or led to purchases that consumers wouldn't have made otherwise.

Poppi, which was purchased by PepsiCo in March for $1.95 billion, has denied the claims in the lawsuit, saying its labeling is truthful and accurate.
