Ben Stokes has been appointed England captain for the Ashes tour, with the squad announcement made on Tuesday for the upcoming five Tests in Australia.
All-rounder Stokes was absent from the final Test against India at the Oval, which began on July 31, due to a shoulder injury.
However, England officials stated that he “remains on track to be available for the start of the Test series" against their rivals Australia, starting in November.
Harry Brook has been named England’s vice-captain, taking over from Ollie Pope, who is included in the 16-man squad as a batter.
