NORFOLK, Neb. (KOLN) - A Norfolk man has been arrested after allegedly setting a home on fire while the resident slept inside.

The Norfolk Fire Division responded to the report of a home on fire in the area of north 9th Street and Koenigstein Avenue at 3:39 a.m.

The fire had largely been extinguished by the resident, who had been sleeping at the time of the incident, by the time fire crews arrived.

The fire department began investigating the cause of the fire and determined that it had been intentionally set. A Norfolk Police detective was asked by the City of Norfolk Fire Marshal to assist in the investigation.

During the joint investigation, surveillance video obtained from a neighboring home showed a man carrying a gasoline can and a long-barreled firearm.
