New Delhi, Sept 23 (UNI) For a hassle-free travel experience during the festive season, the Railways has finalized plans to operate record number of special trains to manage the surge in passengers during Diwali and Chhath.

“From October 1 to November 15, during the Diwali and Chhath festivals, Railways will operate record number of 12,000 special trains to ensure passenger convenience and avoid last-minute rush,” said Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw here today.

Speaking at a press conference here, in the presence of Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu, he said last year, 7,500 special trains were operated during these festivals.
