RED LODGE, Mont. – Red Lodge Fire Rescue responded to an injured climber at the Confluence Crag near the Lions Camp on the Lake Fork of Rock Creek on Sunday afternoon, September 21.

The climber was struck by a rock the size of a microwave, resulting in multiple injuries. Emergency Medical Services conducted the initial assessment and treatment.

Search and Rescue assisted with the carryout over steep, rocky, and challenging terrain. A special thanks went out to the Custer Gallatin National Forest Beartooth Ranger District, which sent in sawyers to help clear and widen the path.

The climber was transported to Billings for a higher level of care.

Red Lodge Fire Rescue expressed gratitude to their members for their quick response, which made the rescue successful.
