The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has suspended Shreemayee Mishra, its General Secretary (Women Affairs), citing “anti-party activities.”

The decision follows her recent social media posts that allegedly criticised party leadership using metaphorical references like “Dhritarashtra.”

Party insiders confirmed that Mishra had received prior warnings before the suspension order was issued. However, Mishra dismissed the move, stating she hadn’t renewed her party membership for over a year. “If a party suspends someone who isn’t even a member, it’s laughable,” she said.

In a strongly worded rebuttal, Mishra emphasised her commitment to dignity and Odia identity. “Odisha has long been governed under the influence of a non-Odia. Disrespecting an Odia woman’s honour is unacceptable,” she said, adding, “
