HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Hastings Police arrested a 17-year-old for first-degree sexual assault on Monday.

HPD Capt. Jason Haase couldn’t share the suspect’s name due to his age.

Local4 did reach out to the county attorney’s office to see if they plan to charge the teen as an adult.

HPD said they arrested the Hastings resident Monday near 12th Street and Lexington Ave.

Hastings Police said they were made aware of the assault of a girl between the ages of 13 to 17. Police said the two were not in a relationship but they did know of each other.

Officers and detectives started working the case, where they were able to discover probable cause.
