WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — The Williamson County Commissioners will vote on providing an additional budget of approximately $25 million to the FM 3349-US 79 Interchange Project in progress.

This project, dubbed the "East WilCo highway project," began in Fall 2022 and aimed to widen the "existing undivided two-lane FM 3349 and CR 101 roadways into a four-lane, divided roadway with bridges over U.S. 79 and the Union Pacific Railroad" according to Williamson County. There will also be a new interchange built between U.S. 79 and FM 3349/CR 101.

"It's a significant project—and I'm going to say not just in the county or East Williamson County—but in the state," said Russ Boles, the Williamson County Commissioner for Precinct Four. "We're seeing a lot of that growth show up in Hutto and
