NEWINGTON, Conn. (WFSB) - An Old Lyme man and Newington business owner has been arrested after allegedly keeping a shotgun mistakenly delivered to his business.
According to Newington Police, a Beretta shotgun worth $14,999.95 was delivered to Hoffman’s Gun Center in Newington when it was meant to be delivered to a Bass Pro Shop.
The owner of Hoffman’s Gun Center, 69-year-old Scott Hoffman, told police he knew the shotgun was not meant for him but kept it anyway.
According to the arrest warrant, the shotgun was mistakenly delivered to Hoffman in 2019. It was not discovered to be stolen until July of 2025 when, in the process of selling, it came back as stolen.
Hoffman was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a stolen firearm and larceny in the second degree.
