A board that oversees city tax incentives has given the nod for a nearly half-million-dollar reimbursement agreement with the Catholic Diocese of Corpus Christi for improvements to its cathedral and surrounding area Uptown.

The Spanish colonial-style church is undergoing a large-scale renovation . A multiyear project, it totals about $13.6 million for improvements to the exterior and interior of the cathedral, according to a presentation made before the board on Sept. 23.
