The Waverly Chapter 353 Order of the Eastern Star gave a $10,000 check to Friends of the Family Sept. 13 to help the organization’s recovery effort after the recent fire at their Waverly emergency shelter.

“I received a call from one of their members, Robin Gaines, earlier that week, asking if we could come pick up the check in person,” said Danielle Vance, director of development with Friends of the Family. “We are incredibly appreciative of their support.”

Vance said the funds would go directly to supporting the group’s ongoing services. She added that anyone interested in joining the Waverly Chapter of the Eastern Star should contact Amy Snow Lindell at amysnow719@gmail.com .
