LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) — A Wahoo police officer is accused of beating and strangling a Pawnee City woman on Friday.

Officers arrested 28-year-old Juan Ramirez Jr. in Lincoln on Monday. He’s charged with assault by strangulation and third-degree domestic violence.

On Sunday, a deputy was called to the Pawnee County Memorial Hospital on report of an assault. The sergeant spoke with a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner and a 39-year-old victim.

The victim said she’d been with Ramirez Jr. at her home on Friday when he started going through her phone. According to an arrest affidavit, Ramirez Jr. disliked one of the victim’s friends, and an argument broke out.
