On Tuesday, Sept. 16, Huron OPP officers received information about an online fraud in South Huron where a 48-year-old reported losing US$49,000 between April and September. Article content

Police said the individual met a suspect on an online communications app. The suspect convinced the victim to send money for investments in gold, and was promised high returns on that investment. After sending almost all their money, the victim said they were threatened by the suspect to send more money or be sent to jail.
In another case, police say they were contacted Saturday, Aug. 30, by a 55-year-old Central Huron resident who reported l
