During his visit to the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, US President Donald Trump experienced two notable disruptions. As he and First Lady Melania Trump arrived at the UN headquarters in New York, an escalator malfunctioned, abruptly stopping as they stepped onto it. This unexpected halt forced the couple to pause mid-step, while their aides opted to use the stairs instead.
Later, while addressing the General Assembly, Trump faced another setback when his teleprompter failed to work. He began his speech without it, stating, "I don’t mind making this speech without a teleprompter, because the teleprompter is not working." He humorously added, "I can only say that whoever is operating this teleprompter is in big trouble."
After a few moments, Trump resorted to reading from printed notes. He concluded his remarks with a light-hearted summary of his experience, saying, "These are the two things I got from the United Nations: a bad escalator and a bad teleprompter. Thank you very much."
In his speech, Trump also addressed serious issues, urging world leaders to focus on the release of hostages held in Gaza, nearly two years after Hamas's attack on Israel. He reiterated his claims regarding foreign policy achievements, including his assertion that he had played a role in stopping the conflict between India and Pakistan, a statement he has made previously without evidence.
