PENNSYLVANIA (WTAJ) — The November 4 municipal election is more than a month away, but the deadline to register to vote in that election is slowly approaching.

Secretary of the Commonwealth Al Schmidt is reminding Pennsylvanians that October 20 is the deadline to register. Every resident has the right to exercise their right to vote, but you must be registered by the deadline to do so for this year's election.

"The races on the ballot in a municipal election may not receive the same attention as a presidential election, but they are important to the everyday lives of Pennsylvanians," Schmidt said. "It only takes a few minutes to register to vote. Once you are registered, you can then exercise your fundamental right to vote and let your voice be heard on Nov. 4."
