CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — An Elizabethtown man is facing aggravated assault and terroristic threat charges after police said he attacked staff during a violent outburst at The Meadows Psychiatric Facility in Centre County.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, state police were dispatched to the facility on Sept. 22 around 9:33 p.m. for a report of a combative patient threatening staff with a large piece of wood. The trooper in the affidavit said he arrived at the facility minutes later and identified the patient as 21-year-old Joshua Edward Briggs Jr.

Staff told police that Briggs was spitting on employees, wielding the wood in a threatening manner, and shouting that he would kill them, according to the complaint. During an attempt to subdue him, Briggs allegedly punched one st
