MADISON, Wis. -- The Wisconsin women's soccer team scored their biggest win of the season thus far on Sunday, and were rewarded with a return to the United Soccer Coaches Top 25.
The Badgers slotted in at No. 20 in this week's poll after taking down Penn State, 2-1, in Pennsylvania. The Nittany Lions were ranked No. 8 heading into the match but dropped to No. 18 afterwards.
It's been a strong start to the season for Wisconsin, who started the year ranked No. 23, though it has not been without its rough spots. After a 4-0 start to the year, the Badgers lost on the road to LSU and tumbled out of the Top 25. They returned to No. 23 a week later after back-to-back wins, but a home loss to Purdue on Sept. 11 sent them down again.
