The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man wanted in a violent domestic assault that left a six-month-old infant seriously injured.

Deputies said Willie Guyton III was taken into custody Monday, Sept. 22, at his workplace in Millport, Alabama, on warrants for domestic violence and felony child abuse. Investigators had been searching for Guyton since Sept. 18, when deputies responded to Baptist Memorial Hospital for a report of a domestic assault.

According to the sheriff’s office, the investigation determined Guyton attempted to physically assault his girlfriend and assaulted their six-month-old baby. The infant suffered a skull fracture and was transferred to Jackson for further treatment.
