Delaware has more than 70,000 veterans, and a new cabinet-level agency is being formed to evaluate and meet their needs.
The General Assembly this year passed legislation ( House Bill 1 ) to establish the Department of Veterans Affairs. Governor Matt Meyer recently nominated Brigadier General Karen Berry to serve as its first Secretary.
Monday, Berry was confirmed by the State Senate after a short interview with members of the Senate Executive Committee.
