CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — A mandatory burn ban has been enacted in Clearfield County after officials warned of worsening wildfire danger.
The Clearfield County Commissioners and the Department of Emergency Services announced the decision Tuesday, citing high fire risk from ongoing dry conditions. Recent weeks have seen multiple wildfires in the county, and little rain is expected in the days ahead, according to the Department of Public Safety.
The ban, which began Sept. 23 at 11 a.m., prohibits all open burning across the county for at least 30 days. Gas and charcoal grilling are not included in the restrictions.
According to the Department of Public Safety, the ban was enacted after a minimum of 10 local fire chiefs requested action.
