Though she received the majority (25%) of the vote, Midway City Council candidate Starr Stratford dropped out of the race Sept. 12. Andy Garland, Jared (JC) Simonsen and Genene Probst-Miles remain in the running.

“I just realized, after thinking it through, now is not a good time for me,” Stratford said.

Stratford, who spoke about keeping Midway’s growth manageable and ensuring the city prioritizes open space, served on various committees before submitting her name for Midway City Council. Despite withdrawing from the race, Stratford said she still hopes to be involved in her community.

“I’d love to still be involved in the future. I’m hoping to still figure out some other ways in the meantime to stay involved, maybe some committees and other things that may take a little less time and
