HUMBLE, Texas (KTRK) -- The Harris County Sheriff's Office says deputies were shot at after being called out to a call for service in Humble.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said someone called in what he described as a swatting call, which is false reporting an emergency to public safety, to a wooded area off Atlantic Drive early Tuesday morning.

That's where the suspect, identified as Kenyon Coleman, was waiting with an automatic rifle, and he began shooting at deputies when they arrived, the sheriff added.

Gonzalez said the gun eventually jammed before the suspect retreated into the wooded area and deputies were able to arrest him.

"I thank God no deputies were hurt," the sheriff wrote in a social media post.
