PHOENIX (AZFamily) — New restrictions are about to affect access to adult content sites in Arizona.

A law passed earlier this year will go into effect on Friday, when it will either cut off access to adult content sites for Arizonans or require the sites to verify a user’s age with government-issued identification.

House Bill 2112 was signed into law by Gov. Katie Hobbs in May. Its goal was to restrict children’s access to websites that display adult content.

The new law holds adult websites accountable if they fail to “implement reasonable age verification procedures,” which shouldn’t store or share personal information. It also allows parents to sue companies in civil court if a company violates the law by allowing children to access pornography.
