AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - One person was injured in a shooting Tuesday afternoon at Augusta Mall, and a suspect was still on the loose.
An hour and a half after the shooting – which by far isn’t the mall’s first – some store employees were still hiding as deputies went from store by store.
And with one suspect out there somewhere, authorities were checking vehicles as they left the mall.
After the last shooting in 2024, mall managers said they took pride in providing a safe place to shop and noted that guns aren’t allowed there – a rule the shooters pay no attention to.
The first reports of this latest shooting came in just before 1:25 p.m., and deputies characterized it as “more of a fight” and not a mass shooting incident.
