ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WLNE) — The Attleboro Police Department said it is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the owner of a dog after it was abandoned at a convenience store in South Attleboro on Sept. 22.

According to police, two people walked into the Seasons Corner Market on Washington Street around 1:40 a.m. with a dog inside a cage.

Police said the two individuals told the clerk that they found the cage on the side of the road and “did not know what to do with it.”

A customer took the dog home for the night, and later that day, the manager of the store reported the abandoned dog to police.

Police were able to locate the good Samaritan, who had given the dog to animal control.
