Baltimore police said two people are facing charges after investigators seized more than a kilogram of drugs tied to a trafficking operation that stretched from Delaware into the city’s Mount Clare and Pigtown neighborhoods.

According to officials, the arrests came after detectives noticed an uptick in violence across several districts and began looking into possible drug connections earlier this month.

Investigators say the suspects were making trips to Delaware to bring cocaine and fentanyl back to Baltimore.

On Sept. 17, officers working with Delaware State Police pulled the suspects over on the Delaware Turnpike. Inside the vehicle, police said they found pressed cocaine, fentanyl and packaging supplies.
