Accuses PDP of trying to keep its relationship intact with BJP

Srinagar, Sep 23: Advisor to the Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani, on Tuesday said the Public Safety Act (PSA) should not have been invoked against Doda legislator Mehraj Malik. He said the issue will be raised in the upcoming Assembly session in Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking to reporters here, Wani said the government has already made it clear that such a law should not have been applied in this case. “He (MLA Doda) was only pressing for better medical facilities in his constituency. The matter should have been resolved through dialogue, not through detention under the PSA,” he said.

He added that the detention of the MLA will be a key point of discussion during the upcoming Assembly session, scheduled to begin on October 13.
