YUMA, Ariz. — Yuma Police Chief Thomas Garrity is asking community members to be patient while his agency continues investigating the death of a 17-year-old and arrest of the teen's older brother.

In a video released Monday, the police chief said he was committed to conducting an open and transparent investigation into the events that occurred on Sept. 13.

Last week, Yuma police released information on a 19-year-old taken into custody after a 17-year-old had been fatally struck by a vehicle in a parking lot on 4th Avenue. A 36-year-old man also involved in the incident was questioned and released.

Yuma police said the 19-year-old was facing a charge of first-degree murder.
