TORONTO — Gold Glover Wilyer Abreu will play in the field Tuesday for the first time since Aug. 17 when he strained his right calf.

The Red Sox and Blue Jays open a three-game series at Rogers Centre. First pitch is scheduled for 7:07 p.m.

Abreu returned from the injured list Sunday and struck out in all four of his plate appearances as the DH. He’s playing right field and batting eighth.

Center fielder Ceddanne Rafaela is batting sixth, the highest he has hit in the order since batting fifth Aug. 27. He’s batting just .202 with a .540 OPS in the second half. But he’s in the midst of a three-game hitting streak, including stroking four hits Friday at Tampa.
