Disney announced it will bring back "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" after the parent company said the ABC show would be "pre-empted indefinitely" on Sept. 17.

"Last Wednesday, we made the decision to suspend production on the show to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country," Disney said in a Monday, Sept. 22, statement to USA TODAY. "We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday."

The reversal follows a backlash in Hollywood and a mounting boycott campaign against Disney. More than 400 stars, including A-listers like Jennifer Aniston and Tom Hanks, signed a letter supporting Kimmel.
