The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality wants feedback on a proposed settlement and judgment with the city of Blackfoot.

It is for reported violations of The Clean Water Act and Idaho pollutant discharge elimination system.

The city is authorized to discharge treated wastewater to the Snake River.

However, the DEQ claims the city exceeded waste-water limits, failed to submit required reports, allowed sanitary sewer overflows, and failed to implement required pre-treatment controls.

The settlement requires the city to address deficiencies in its collection system, complete upgrades, and submit regular reports.

The city must also pay $200,000 in penalties.
