AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - One person was killed in a shooting Tuesday afternoon at Augusta Mall, and deputies took two suspects into custody, although two were still on the loose.
Sheriff Eugene Brantley pointed out that even though it was initially reported as an active shooter, it was more of a fight that spilled into the mall.
Despite the mall’s upscale character, the shooting by far isn’t its first – or even the first deadly one.
Speaking at a news conference in the food court just before 4 p.m., Brantley said about six people were involved in the incident that was reported around 1:15 p.m.
When deputies arrived within minutes, they viewed surveillance video that helped them track down the two suspects they ultimately took into custody, according to Brantley.
