The New England Patriots announced the signing of rookie Tyron Herring to the practice squad on Tuesday. In a corresponding move, the organization released veteran Corey Ballentine.

Herring, 24, had visited Gillette Stadium for a workout after clearing waivers at the NFL’s 53-man roster deadline. The 6-foot-1, 201-pound undrafted free agent entered the league with the Green Bay Packers in April. He saw 72 snaps between defense and special teams during his rookie preseason.

After spending four years in the Ivy League at Dartmouth, Herring moved on to Delaware for the 2023 and 2024 campaigns. He served as a team captain with the Blue Hens, totaling 72 tackles, four interceptions, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery across 23 games. Second-team
