Hugo Ekitike will miss some Premier League action after receiving a bizarre red card in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.

Ekitike scored an 84th-minute winner for Liverpool as they knocked out Southampton at Anfield in their third-round tie .

However, his joy turned to despair in seconds as he celebrated his goal by taking off his shirt and holding it up.

The Frenchman, who was brought on at half time for Alexander Isak , was booked for dissent soon after his introduction.

And he appeared to forget about that when he found the net.

After his celebration, the referee wandered over and showed him a second yellow card, sending him down the tunnel.

Ekitike then had to awkwardly leave the pitch with a guilty look on his face
