A company that builds electric transformers is expanding its operations in eastern Missouri and creating 50 new jobs.

WEG Transformers USA announced Tuesday that it will invest 77 million dollars to expand its factory in Washington, Missouri, about 50 miles west of St. Louis.

WEG’s parent company was founded in Brazil in 1961, and expanded to Washington, Missouri in 2017. The expansion is being funded in part by tax breaks from the Missouri Works program.
