Although I grew up in the Phoenix area, Sunday was the first time I’ve ever been inside the Cardinals Stadium, and of all things it was for a memorial. As numerous media outlets reported, people began to line up near the stadium in the very early morning hours of Sunday, everyone hoping for a chance to get in. We didn’t leave until 6:30 a.m. that morning, arriving at the stadium just after 7 a.m. About a mile from the stadium, I began to see the crowds in red, white, and blue, or their ‘Sunday best.’
At first, the odds of us making it into the stadium looked bleak, with multiple lines snaking around the stadium and Westgate. No one tried to cut the line, I didn’t see anyone pushing or shoving to get in. Like everyone else, I was going to try to get in to be a part of something big, to wit
