ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) -On Tuesday, first responders from around the state of Missouri were honored for their heroic actions in the line of duty.

Several civilians were also recognized for their efforts in aiding law enforcement in a variety of dangerous situations.

Alan Crook remembers driving down Lindbergh Boulevard last fall when he saw a Hazelwood police officer struggling with an apparent suspect.

“By the time I was able to pull my car over, they were already on the ground struggling,” he said. “He was getting overtaken, looked like he needed help, so I was able to get out the truck, pull my firearm and de-escalate the situation.”

According to police, Officer Brandon Runyon was called to an armed robbery that had just occurred, finding the suspect on North Lindbergh Blvd.
