As summer slips into fall, it's about that time to remember how to stay safe around our giant furry neighbors .
Cory Stantorf with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game shares, "Right now, we are in the moose rutting season, or breeding season, so moose are out and about. They're looking to establish dominance with other bulls. Which means they are rubbing their antlers naturally on trees and bushes, things like that."
But sometimes, especially in urban environments, it's more than just trees and bushes. Over the past week, a moose was spotted in Anchorage sporting an electrical cable around its antlers.
While it's easy to look at moose and see them as aloof and friendly creatures, it's important to respect them, their space, and also their power.
