CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Round one of this AL Central showdown goes to the Cleveland Guardians, thanks to a stunning meltdown by Detroit ace Tarik Skubal.

Staked to a 2-0 lead, Skubal unraveled in the 6th, allowing 3 runs on 2 bunts, a wild pitch, a balk and a hideous error in a 5-2 Detroit loss before a Cleveland crowd of 29,571.

The Tigers have lost 10 of 11 and drop into a tie with Cleveland for the AL Central lead.

David Fry was also hit in the face on a bunt attempt in the 6th and had to leave the game.

Daniel Schneemann delivered a pinch 2-run single in the 7th off Kyle Finnegan, extending the Guardians lead to 5-2.

Gavin Williams fanned a career-high tying 12 in 6 innings and escaped a bases-loaded jam in the 4th with 2 strikeouts.
