SPRINGFIELD TWP. — Four days after La Salle suffered its first Philadelphia Catholic loss of the season against Devon Prep in double overtime, it found itself playing more than 80 minutes again.

This time, one extra session was enough.

Mateo Puntel scored in the 89th minutes to lift the Explorers to a 2-1 PCL win over Father Judge Tuesday at La Salle College High School.

“The intensity rose (at practice),” Puntel said. “We knew we had to bounce back against a tough team in Judge. We knew we could do it and the result came.”

Justin Jarymovich tallied the game-winning assist with his cross into the box from the right side. Puntel skied into the air and got his head on the ball, redirecting it into the net and setting off a celebration on the La Salle (6-1 PCL) sideline.
