As students across the Chicago-area gear up for Homecoming season, the Better Business Bureau is warning of shady businesses and scammers eager to exploit the moment.

From fake websites advertising dresses and accessories to limo services that disappear after payment, the BBB says they've seen a rise in deceptive practices targeting teens and their families celebrating the high school milestone.

“Homecoming should be a time of celebration, not regret,” says Steve J. Bernas, president and CEO of the BBB. “Unfortunately, the rush to find the perfect outfit, book a limousine, or snag last-minute deals can lead to costly mistakes. Scammers know this—and they’re counting on it.”
