There were moments in this season where it looked inevitable. There were others when it looked like a long shot. But in the final week of the season the Yankees have punched their ticket to the playoffs.
They did it in dramatic fashion when Jose Caballero hit a two-out flare single to centerfield to drive in Aaron Judge from second base and give the Yankees a 3-2 triumph over the White Sox before 38,318 at the Stadium.
The winning rally started with Anthony Volpe lacing a single to left-centerfield and continued when Austin Wells roped a single into right-center. Trent Grisham hit into a 4-6-3 double play and Judge was intentionally walked to put runners on the corners. With Cody Bellinger at the plate and the count full, Chicago lefty Brandon Eisert airmailed ball four to the backstop,
