PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A former Putnam County Schools bus driver who was charged in a school bus crash with 28 students on board has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge, according to the county Prosecutor’s Office.
Amy Allen pleaded guilty to reckless driving with serious bodily injury.
Prosecutors said Allen was driving a bus with 28 students on board in April 2024 when she crashed into a tree on Roosevelt Boulevard in Eleanor.
Several students were hurt in the crash.
Allen was originally facing dozens of charges, including child neglect creating risk of injury.
However, the prosecutor’s office said after looking through the medical records and toxicology report that there wasn’t enough evidence to support the original charges.
