STUTTGART, Ark. – Arkansas farmers are warning that without immediate relief, the state could face a cascading crisis that stretches far beyond the fields, threatening schools, small businesses, and entire rural communities.
On Tuesday, lawmakers gathered at the Grand Prairie Center in Stuttgart, moving the House Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Resources Subcommittee meeting out of the Capitol so farmers in the middle of harvest could attend. Nearly a hundred filled the room, sharing testimony that was often blunt but deeply personal.
