A man was killed in a house fire in San Bernardino on Monday night, Sept. 22, authorities said.

San Bernardino County firefighters responded at around 10:45 p.m. to reports of a blaze at a single-story house on the 2100 block of Genevieve Street, near Highland Avenue and Sierra Way, fire department spokesman Capt. Eric Sherwin said.

Fire crews found flames in a bedroom, where a victim described as an adult male had been trapped. The individual was taken to a hospital but was pronounced dead, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Gloria Orejel said.

The victim’s name was not immediately released.

Four adults, a child and a dog were displaced due to the fire, Sherwin said. Their relationship to the deceased was not immediately known.
