The Huntsville/Madison Co. Public Library Board held its monthly meeting Tuesday, drawing significant public attention after July's session ended in chaos, including allegations that a child was spat on outside the meeting room.

Although tensions remained high, Tuesday's meeting proceeded without any physical confrontations or shouting matches.

The controversy centers around recent policy updates by the Alabama Public Library Service (APLS) regarding the placement of certain books in children's and young adult sections. These changes require that materials containing what the APLS deems "sexually explicit content" or content related to transgender or LGBTQ+ topics be moved to the adult section.
